The Journey is Personal.
Hi! I'm Jeff Jenkins. After years in ministry and a lifelong interest in history, faith, and public life, I realized that the questions shaping our future aren't answered by shouting louder. They’re explored through curiosity, conversation, humility, and a willingness to learn from others. A Civic Pilgrim is my invitation to take that journey together.
Why This Journey?
We're living in a time of deep division. I believe our democracy and our communities need more curiosity, more listening, and more thoughtful conversation. This project is my attempt to seek those conversations wherever they can be found.
Walk With Me
From historic battlefields and churches to political conventions and small-town cafés, I'll be traveling across the country asking questions, meeting people, and exploring what faithful citizenship looks like in America today.

Theological Foundations
Theocracy & Democracy
God rules the universe, but has gifted us democracy out of trust and love. Democracy is a sacred spiritual practice of sharing power; authoritarianism is idolatrous and a corruption of this divine gift.
Democracy Needs Everyone
To build the Beloved Community and fulfill our divine potential, we need the full, diverse spectrum of humanity working and governing together, reflecting the deeply relational image of God.
"Hope Springs Eternal"
It is out of democracy that hope springs eternal. By practicing democracy and loving those most different from us, we actively bring the beauty and joy of shared power into our present reality.
A Civic Pilgrim is profoundly informed by a community of thinkers and leaders dedicated to the intersection of faith and democracy.
